Aims and Objectives
1.To advance education amongst the residents of Camlachie and the
wider East End area, through:-
Continued development of our Training and Learning
Centre. Continued
development of our Multimedia facilities. Raising educational attainment levels in
Camlachie. Widening
participation in, and demand for lifelong learning. Continuing to
support the development and delivery of accredited training programmes. Developing young
peoples skills and support their transition from school to adult
learning.
2.To promote employment training programmes/initiatives and assist
local people into sustainable employment,
through:-
Developing and
delivering one customised employment training programme in each year of the
lifetime of the Centres business plan. Maximising employment opportunities arising from
the local housing development programme. Developing and delivering four ILM training programmes
in the lifetime of the Centres business plan. Establishing a
Childcare service (0-5 years) for 35 local children (daily). Establishing an
out-of-school care service (5-12 years) for 20 local children (daily). Establishing an
out-of-school care service (12-14 years) for 20 local children (daily). Developing young
peoples skills and supporting their transition from school to adult
life. Development and
delivery of an Arts/Multimedia initiative within the Centre. through secondary school and further education into the world of
work.
3.Develop existing volunteer services and opportunities and
encourage volunteer participation; and expand volunteer
participation through increased provision of volunteer training and employment
opportunities, by:-
Supporting local volunteer management committees
through the provision of training and support in the development of their
projects/initiatives. Continuing to develop the capacity of the South
Camlachie Neighbourhood Forum. Developing the capacity of the Camlachie Health
Forum. Devising and
delivering training programmes to raise skills levels of local
volunteers. Working in
partnership with the private sector and external agencies to create work experience placements for local people. Supporting local
children and youths to participate in local management committees, forums, community consultation workshops, etc.
4.Increase
opportunities for residents through the implementation of a range of measures
and programmes
aimed at improving life chances, life quality and economic well-being,
through:-
Continuing
to work with appropriate partners to enable the delivery of outreachservices from the
Bambury. Increasing
the range of leisure and recreational activities available to local
people. Delivering a range of health and fitness activities within the
Bambury. Continuing
to assist in the development of the Camlachie Over 50s Club. Reducing
the impact of territoriality amongst young people. Reducing
the impact of addiction (drugs and alcohol) on young people.
5.Improve
the physical, environmental and economic infrastructure of theBambury and Camlachie, in accordance
with local needs and priorities,through:-
Developing
a clear strategic approach to service delivery and sustainability.
Increasing
generated income to a level of 70% of total staff andoperational costs. Improving
the environmental attractiveness and spatial use of the land immediately
adjacent to the
Bambury.
Creating
leisure and play facilities for young children and youths. Supporting
the development of safety initiatives with a particularemphasis on road safety.
