Principles of Volunteer
Involvement
Volunteers engaged by the Bambury will be supported and supervised by a
nominated member of staff with appropriate training to undertake this role. A
volunteer may act as a supervisor for other volunteers, provided that the
supervising volunteer is under the direct supervision of a paid member of
staff.
Volunteers will be involved in a wide range of tasks, but will not
be given a role which may be seen as a substitute for paid work, or which may be
considered a threat to a paid employee’s post.
The Bambury will ensure
that all paid employees are aware of the role of the volunteer within the
organisation, and actively encourage and foster working relationships between
both.
Volunteers will be recruited from all sections of the community by
using various methods. Volunteers will be recruited without discrimination as to
gender, disability, race or any other condition.
All volunteers must
undergo an enhanced disclosure check through the Central Registered Body in
Scotland. When working with children and vulnerable adults, this must be
declared on the application.
